FILE RECOVERY GUIDES

Can’t open, print or copy a PDF?

Check your PDF for free. Downloading a prepared copy or trying a cloud password search costs $9.99 USD before tax. Find the right option for your file.

Free file check. $9.99 USD to download a prepared result, reveal a saved password, or try a cloud password search. Tax may apply. No subscription.

A PDF that won’t open needs different help from one that opens but won’t let you print or copy text. Choose your PDF for a free check if you’re unsure. Your original won’t be uploaded or changed.

It asks for a password before showing the pages

First look for the password in the message that came with the file, your password manager, or saved notes. Ask the sender for the password or another copy if possible.

If those checks don’t help, Llaves may be able to try a password search. A long or random password may not be found. The file check is free; a server search costs $9.99 USD before tax for one attempt of up to five minutes after it starts. Waiting for it to start can add time. The fee applies even if the search finishes without a match. A service failure that prevents completion receives a full refund.

Some older PDFs can instead be searched on your own device to create an unlocked copy. This may take days or longer, and progress must be paused and saved before closing the tab. Failed preparation costs nothing; downloading a prepared copy costs $9.99 before tax.

It opens, but printing or copying is blocked

Llaves may be able to prepare a copy without those restrictions. You only pay $9.99 USD before tax if the copy is ready and you choose to download it. You don’t need the original printing/copying password for supported files.

The PDF must already open without asking for a password. Not every file is supported. See how to remove printing and copying restrictions.

You know the password and want to remove it

Use an app that accepts the password you know and saves an unprotected copy. Llaves does not currently accept a known PDF opening password.

What stays private?

Your full PDF stays on your device. Preparing an unlocked copy keeps its contents here too. A server password search sends the information needed to test passwords; we learn the password if we find it. You can review what will be sent before continuing. Read how Llaves handles your file.

The free file check does not start a paid search. You decide whether to pay after seeing the options and price.
